Hey all!
I have put quite a bit of weight on my thighs and bum, but i have a very small waist and upper body. I'm finding it very hard to shift the weight. I try to go running round the park near my house, but I cant really get to a gym because I don't drive. I have a workout video but I'm not sure if its good (devina's 3 30min workouts) I do keep it it and workout to it 3 times a week. Also I'm not sure about the right kind of diet (whats the best to eat) I eat a lot of pasta and beans on toast, I have started to eat rivitas as a snack instead of crisps and i don't eat chocolate anymore. Just looking for advice on the best thing to do really regarding exercise and diet. Any help will be much appreciated! :)

hey becks from that post i can tell you are trying, the best way for me to help is to recommend sugestions and work it from there.
it is difficult to reduce fat at spot areas, it does not dissapeare that way, a correct diet and training regime will help shift it as a whole and eventually the spots you say want it gone from will loose the fat also.
you should try and do the cardio at mornings before breakfast (have a coffe then train 30/45 min quick walk) walking is better than running as it will not break the muscle down only the fat.
for breakfast have some oats with water (put some grapes and strawberries in for taste) they will take getting used to but is actually ok after about a week. (you will actually crave the oats then) - if not to your taste at all have some brown bread (toast with penut butter)
try to stay away from pasta especially in the pm. a balanced diet is required theough to loose weight. (and keep the fat at bay)
chicken breast and rice (have some nando's source for texture and taste) - meal 1
cottage cheese and jacket potatoe - meal 2
salad and turkey breast/chicken , some fruit -meal 3
i can not comment on divina's workout video havent seen it :)

Hey thanks for the reply.. I usually get the bus to college every morning and i have a 15 min walk from the bus station to my college. I try to eat fruit in the morning whilst im on the bus to college. I do usually have brown bread as apposed to white. I am quite a fussy eater so its quite hard to find things that are healthy and are part of a good diet. I will try to eat more chicken breast. I like jacket potatos but feel I am limited to what i can have on them as I am such a fussy eater. Also i dont like salad either. So i feel I'm in a bit of a dilemma when it comes to the diet thing. Can i ask why its best to stay away from pasta in the pm? Should I stop eating it all together?
I looked at my workout DVD and this is what is consists of:
Pump This works the muscles really well and includes small but intensive interval training sessions.
Cardio Box This is brilliant and loads of fun to do, as it combines intensive fat burning exercise with some boxing moves.
Core Stability This is all about poise, posture, balance and can have a huge impact on your overall health and wellbeing.
I dunno if this is a good workout video and whether it consists of the right exercises i need to do. Thank you for your help.

it would be ok too have pasta before or after the training in the evening, walking 15 min in the morning should be quick and realistically longer minimum 30min at a quick pace.
im sure the video you have will be fine to begin with in the evenings, (3 times a week).
as far as diet is concerned (and your eating habbits), yes it is difficult too diet for everyone, but the right foods are esential if you are realisticaly looking to burn the fat, i could say to you 'yes this will be fine what your doing at the moment' but if that was the case you would not be asking for advice as it would be working for you.
the reason for opposing pasta is because if you dont use the carbs up through training it will be stored as fat.
i think that 'pscarb' a moderator on here helped his sister out and she lost a lot of weight (and this guy knows his stuff on diets) pm(personel mail) him from the members list , im sure he will be able to help loads.:)

I never got a p.m. so here goes. :D
Calories in equals calories burnt.
If you stick to the carbs that are high in fiber you will have a sense of feeling full. Pasta, is a carb but doesn't have allot of fiber so it tends to spike insulin. When insulin is spiked from high blood sugar we tend to store fat.
25% of the poeple really dont fare well with high G.I. carbs.
High G.I. carbs are breads (low fiber), sugar, juices, potatoes, sodas, get the idea.
In my ever so humble opinion, it's all about the carb choices, period.
On a side note, your last meal dictates your next meal. So if you ate a candy bar, your next meal you will crave another candybar.
