thanks db i put the shrugs on with the legs cos i already have three big back moves on the wed so i stick the shrugs on with the legs day cos i love doing them and didn't wanna leave them out, also i don't have to do any warmup sets for them cos i find the stiff legged deadlift warm my traps up.i think i might have to start doing some grip work soon tho cos i almost dropped my 83kg shrug on my new wooden floor last week:D can u or anyone else recomend any good grip exercises?

thanks

is that a bar with 83kg on it? most people could hold that without a problem? i would have thought?? maybe try putting your thumb in your hand like powerlifters do

83kg dumbells maybe hard to hold tho!!

invest in some chalk imo...

makes a massive difference...

you can get climbing chalk in a netted bag and that way it isn't too messy

Nothing builds grip like gripping stuff :p

Hang on a pullup bar with weight around your waist for long periods of time is one I like.

Chalk definately helps. I tried to lift my max dealift (235kg) without chalk once. Managed to lift it just got all the skin pulled off my hands and had blisters for nearly a week afterwards. Chalk helps prevent this movement and strengthens your grip as a result :)

i think i'll try some chalk and try the hanging from a pull up bar technique mentioned, i guess its just a weak area i'll have to work on building up my hand and finger muscle the same as any other.i think doing the shrugs after s l deadlifts weakens my grip alot too, i used to crack my knuckles alot?? i don't think that helped either cos i used to find my fingers a bit stiff and grip weak when playing my guitar

thanks for suggestions and more??
